The cartridge does not have the electronic component (chip) on it. In order for it to work, you have to insert the old chip from the empty cartridge, this can be done either using the special chip extraction and transfer tool or using a side cutter (sold separately).

Note: The toner works and prints normally and its lifespan is normal, it just shows empty level message on the screen which the user can ignore.
